Blank journal to record thoughts, gratitude, challenges, and healing during the first 90 days of the journey to quitting cigarettes. I am writing to thank you for your ideas on breathing exercises and meditation that have helped me to give up smoking. I had tried everything from patches to gum and you showed me the way was inside me. Gretchen from Scottsdale, Arizona In 2007, a TIME magazine article detailed scientific evidence showing that it takes approximately 90 days for the brain to reset itself and shake off the immediate influence of a drug. Researchers from Yale University found a gradual re-engaging of the brain's analytical function after an addict had abstained for at least 90 days. Old habits can be hard to break, and we need all the help we can get when beating addiction. So, we created this journal / logbook for the 90 journey. I'd just like to say thank you so much for taking the time to care enough to share your wonderful advice. I have been smoke free for 2 weeks now and I have a huge smile on my face. Paula from Denver, Colorado Firstly, we summarize the main ways of giving up smoking before explaining my own method which allowed me to stop easily without any bad side effects or cravings. After that, you can decide to give up smoking when you want and keep to a 90-day log and gratitude journal for the next three months. The success of the journey will have a lot to do with your mental attitude. I have to write as I haven't seen my wife so happy in so many years. We both never believed I would stop smoking but I did thanks to your words. Thank you. Padraig from Cork, Ireland For this reason, we suggest writing down your thoughts during everyone of the 90 days you spend clean. Focus on positivity We recommend recording something you were grateful for on each of the 90 days. Did you have a lovely meal today? Did someone smile at you today? Were you grateful for having hot or cold running water today? Write it down. Journalling allows time for these new patterns to become habits. Although 90 days is considered the gold standard of treatment, you can't put a timeline on beating an addiction. Addiction is a life-long enemy, and recovery is a daily battle - even year after kicking the habit. Ideal design for beating addiction: Attractive design with a motivational quote every page is perfect for jotting down things that you are grateful for in everyday life. Conquer Your Food Addiction is not a diet book. But if you're committed to losing weight, it's the right book for you! Nobody can cajole, trick, or provoke you into shedding those excess pounds. But if you are genuinely ready to go for it, Caryl Ehrlich is here to lead the way with her 8-step program for permanent weight loss. The perfect solution for people who are overweight -- many of whom are compulsive eaters -- Ehrlich's is a behavioral approach to weight loss that teaches you how to change habits in order to overcome food addiction. As she observes, no deprivation diet will work for food addicts, because they use food the way other addicts use drugs or alcohol: not to satisfy physical hunger but to distract oneself from painful feelings -- loneliness, anger, boredom, sadness -- with a never-ending conveyor belt of food. A former compulsive eater herself, Ehrlich developed this easy-to-understand program for herself more than twenty-five years ago and has taught it to others, with astounding results, for more than two decades. With the help of Conquer Your Food Addiction you will: • Learn how to distinguish physical hunger from emotional hunger • Become aware of your unconscious, ritualized eating habits • Develop the skills necessary to approach food differently • Change your behavior in order to change your body • Awaken to an improved, realistic relationship with food Using original concepts and easy assignments, Ehrlich's proven 8-step program retrains your thought process so that you can begin to see food in a new and healthy way. Once you do, you'll be amazed at how the pounds come off!

God created people to be well in body, mind, and spirit—a unified and healthy whole. Christian Paths to Health and Wellness, Third Edition, helps undergraduate students explore key topics that affect their health and well-being and apply what they learn to their daily lives. This updated text examines wellness from a holistic perspective, delving into how students can thrive in body, mind, and spirit. Students will learn how to more fully understand God, themselves, and their purpose in life; have strong and healthy relationships with others; develop cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular fitness, and flexibility and mobility; have a healthy attitude toward their bodies, eat well, and manage weight properly; understand and apply good sleep hygiene to maximize alertness; and adopt emotionally healthy habits and deal with stress in a constructive way. All of this material is based on current research and is delivered through a faith-based perspective that will help students apply aspects of behavior modification as they learn how to take charge of the health of their bodies, minds, and spirits. Written by highly respected Christian academics, the text includes chapter objectives, a glossary that defines key terms from each chapter, and easy-to-read charts that highlight specific information. This latest edition also features a new web study guide that makes Christian Paths to Health and Wellness a particularly valuable and unique resource. For each chapter in the text, the web study guide supplies readers with an introductory self-assessment activity on the chapter’s topic; application and learning activities; self-reflection writing prompts to help students process the chapter’s content; suggested websites and readings for further exploration of the topic; and an interactive key terms quiz. (The web study guide is included with all new print books and some ebooks. For ebook formats that don’t provide access, the web study guide is available separately.) Christian Paths to Health and Wellness offers instructors free access to online ancillaries, including an instructor guide, a presentation package, and a test package. “This text,” says coauthor Peter Walters, “is a book about accepting our God-given roles and capacities. Then empowered by the Spirit of God, we can make healthy choices regarding our mind, body, and soul. The end result is what ancients called ‘the good life,’ current academics call ‘human flourishing,’ and what scriptures call ‘shalom’.” “Personal wellness is often achieved through mental and physical discipline,” adds coauthor John Byl. “However, it is also important to open yourself to the power of God through the Holy Spirit. It is written in Bible that ‘the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control’ (Galatians 5:22–23). Ideas related to the fruit of the Spirit have been woven through the text, and a couple of chapters offer brief vignettes on a particular fruit of the Spirit, which demonstrates how the Spirit heals and makes one well.” Christian Paths to Health and Wellness, Third Edition, will equip students with the knowledge and tools they need to adopt healthy lifestyles in all aspects of their lives. And that lifestyle will be pleasing to God and help them live out their purpose.
