This instructive book carries in itself a life-transforming value. None who reads it, with the needed interest and attention, will ever feel inclined to remain unchanged in personal nature and untransformed in conduct and character. A good deal of careful judgment and confidence would assist us in asserting that no one who reads this work, will fail to resist the readiness to make of his own will a Power that alters and exalts his own life and destiny. The work is fraught with implicit guidance for turning our personalities into forces of compelling influence and charm, and for rendering our lives into so many grand stories of the epic unfoldment of the Divine Truth we enshrine, the Divine Light we bear, and the Divine perfection we hold in our inner being. This, then, is a simple, straightforward, inspiring book that holds out many methods for the culture and nurture of thought power. It is also a work that presents us with many useful suggestions which enable us to reach a region beyond the terrain of thought and its power, a realm of transcendental Experience and God-consciousness.

Thought Power seeks to teach children the relationship between thought control and victorious Christian living. Even children experience a kind of “spiritual warfare”—that tug of choosing between right and wrong. Ephesians 4:23 (NIV) says, “And be made new in the attitude of your mind.” Prepare your child to be a winner with godly, positive thoughts. Thought Power’s main themes include the power of thoughts, the assurance that God has a purpose for our lives, and the reassurance that when we allow right thoughts to direct our lives, we will emerge as winners. Too many children today experience depression, feelings of worthlessness, and suicidal thoughts. Thought Power lets them know Jesus loves them, has a plan for their lives, and motivates them to use their thought power to its highest potential.

Before "New Age" there was "New Thought," a philosophy that sought God through metaphysics and was wildly popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. American mystic and bestselling author RALPH WALDO TRINE (1866-1958) was one of the most significant writers on New Thought principles, and this 1899 volume reproduces in one compact package beloved excerpts from his book What All the World's A-Seeking (also available from Cosimo Classics). Here, Trine examines: . quashing negative or foolish thinking instantly . approaching life aware of our own talents and limitations . the power of a positive attitude . and more. Trine's advice-wise, but also cheerful-continues to serve as a potent inspiration today.

Presented here in its original 12-volume series, the Personal Power Books are a set of self-help books designed to be carefully studied to develop personal power. In the Foreword to Volume I, personal power is defined as "The ability of strength possessed by the human individual, by which he does, or may, accomplish desired results in an efficient manner, along the lines of physical, mental, and spiritual effort and endeavor." In other words, these books describe the methods to attaining control and power in your own life, whether it be financial, physical, mental, or emotional--certainly a worthy goal for any individual. Volume VIII discusses the nature and definition of thought, thought waves and forms, thought induction, attraction, and contagion, as well as methods of applying and using thought power. American writer WILLIAM WALKER ATKINSON (1862-1932) was editor of the popular magazine New Thought from 1901 to 1905 and editor of the journal Advanced Thought from 1916 to 1919. He authored dozens of New Thought books under numerous pseudonyms, including the name "Yogi," some of which are likely still unknown today.

We are always thinking. Still, very few of us have accurate information about the origin of thoughts, their power and effects, and the fact that, incredible as it may sound, we can use our thinking to manifest in our lives anything we might want. Thought is the origin of a country, its constitution, legislation, economic systems and political ideologies. It is the invention of tools, machinery and equipment, the arts, science, astronomy, philosophy, and everything around you. You cannot pronounce a word or move a part of your body if you don't think of it first, to the point that every event in your life is a consequence of your conscious or unconscious thinking, but always the outcome of thought. Nobody can negate that people are happy or unhappy because of what they think, not because of what actually happens. Similarly, people fail, or succeed, because of what they think, not because of what actually happens around them. Thought is power, but unfortunately very few have had the chance to discover this great power within, and fewer still are actually using it. Thoughts can also become beliefs, which if not properly understood can jeopardize anybody's life and endeavours. They are a power too, that can be good or risky depending on the type of beliefs that the individual may have adopted during his lifetime. However, there is always available a way out from false beliefs and real ease in adopting new and right ones. This book is intended to share practical ways of using thought-power for all those individuals who are genuinely interested in overcoming limitations and the lack of success in their lives, offering, in the author's opinion, the best tool ever. Theosophist Annie Besant (1847-1933) drew from the ancient wisdom of the East to explore the deep recesses of the mind. The original edition was published in 1903 and has been in print ever since. Now leading contemporary Theosophists have painstakingly revised the text to free its timeless truths from the time-bound language of the early twentieth century and make it more accessible to today's readers. The result is a clear discussion of subjects of increasingly high interest: concentration, memory, consciousness, telepathy, sleep and dreams, cultivation of the will, and access to your higher self.

This book explores the impact of poststructuralism on contemporary political theory by focussing on problems and issues central to politics today. Drawing on the theoretical concerns brought to light by the ‘poststructuralist’ thinkers Foucault, Derrida, Lacan, Deleuze and Max Stirner, Newman provides a critical examination of new developments in contemporary political theory: post-Marxism, discourse analysis, new theories of ideology and power, hegemony, radical democracy and psychoanalytic theory. He re-examines the political in light of these developments in theory to suggest new ways of thinking about politics through a reflection on the challenges that confront it. This volume will be of great interest to students of postmodernism and poststructuralist theory in political science, philosophy, sociology, philosophy and cultural studies.

The Power of Thought is a practical and revealing guide to obtain, retain, and sharpen your ability to live life to its fullest by unlocking the powers you already have. The quest for more meaning and fulfillment in our lives is a common pursuit, one that often results in a misguided struggle for quick answers and immediate fixes. Many self-help books offer prescriptions that, if followed closely, will result in guaranteed success. Author and speaker Jerry Mooney offers a new way to look at how you can truly improve your life by not tapping into some philosophical ideal or religious formula, but by examining the power that already exists within yourself. Mooney helps you identify those things in life that may be robbing you of this power: negative thoughts, fear of change, mistrust, peer pressure, and many other unrecognized obstacles. With tested exercises such as visualization, writing, meditation, yoga and more, Mooney offers a sensible plan to start utilizing your innate power to begin living the life you truly want.

Ancient Chinese Thought Modern Chinese Power

The rise of China could be the most important political development of the twenty-first century. What will China look like in the future? What should it look like? And what will China's rise mean for the rest of world? This book, written by China's most influential foreign policy thinker, sets out a vision for the coming decades from China's point of view. In the West, Yan Xuetong is often regarded as a hawkish policy advisor and enemy of liberal internationalists. But a very different picture emerges from this book, as Yan examines the lessons of ancient Chinese political thought for the future of China and the development of a "Beijing consensus" in international relations. Yan, it becomes clear, is neither a communist who believes that economic might is the key to national power, nor a neoconservative who believes that China should rely on military might to get its way. Rather, Yan argues, political leadership is the key to national power, and morality is an essential part of political leadership. Economic and military might are important components of national power, but they are secondary to political leaders who act in accordance with moral norms, and the same holds true in determining the hierarchy of the global order. Providing new insights into the thinking of one of China's leading foreign policy figures, this book will be essential reading for anyone interested in China's rise or in international relations. In a new preface, Yan reflects on his arguments in light of recent developments in Chinese foreign policy, including the selection of a new leader in 2012.

America has changed much since that day in December 1955 when African Americans in Alabama formed the Montgomery Improvement Association and elected Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. its president. In assuming that post, the kernel of a dream was planted in Dr. King, and his leadership and oratory helped to nurture that dream. The Power of Thought honors the powerful oratory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and underscores the importance of his legacy, particularly for youth today. During the tyranny of segregation, many African Americans could point to the system as the reason for the evil treatment they experienced. Today it is problematic to simply blame the system, drop into a defensive mode, become self-serving, and narrowly define our own spheres of competence. As a product of the Civil Rights era, author Dr. Wright Lassiter Jr. has been a student of the life and legacy of Dr. King. Given the decline of racial segregation and overt discrimination, he believes it is now more important than ever for black youth in particular to know and understand the full compass of their past, its triumphs and tragedies, its values and lessons. More than ever we and our youth must appreciate our history and the heroic contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to avoid self-imposed barriers.

This compilation is the result of what happened to me when I sat down and began to think critically and creatively. I know that thinking is not a deep theological, scientific discovery first made by me, but it is the result of what happened when I did it. I am amazed at what can possibly come to pass when we take time, get alone with ourselves, and experience the cerebral. The next best invention, cure for an illness, or the answer to world hunger is lying dormant in the mind of some thinker. By taking the time to contemplate; you can actually blow your own mind at what you can come up with. Think, investigate, ask questions and write. The power of thought is amazing. Take some time and think! You will be astonished at what lies within your mind.
