The Yoga Kitchen Plan is a soulful journey towards finding your best, most authentic self where a quiet mind and overall sense of calm are the ultimate goal. Through the use of pure, non-stimulating foods, the plan helps the reader reach a state of bliss and tranquility each day. The book starts by explaining the body's chakra system and how this is integral to a yogic lifestyle. The core of the book is the simple, 7-day plan which incorporates breathing exercises, meditations, basic yoga practice, daily tasks, and then a selection of recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner that target each of your 7 chakras to take you through a whole week. The 80 recipes follow a sattvic food model – this means that the food is lacto-vegetarian i.e. fruit, vegetables and dairy predominate while stimulating foods that unsettle the mind are excluded, such as eggs, garlic, onion and caffeine. Examples include Raspberry & Apple Bircher with Pistachio Confetti; Blueberry & Basil Kombucha with Poached Pear & Rhubarb; Fennel, Beetroot & Orange Salad with Whipped Feta; and Grilled Lettuce, Corn & Black Bean Chop Salad.

What is The Yoga of Cleaning? These are two activities that don’t usually go together. Or do they? Yoga means union or yoking of the mind, body and spirit. When these three aspects of us are brought to the task of cleaning (which is the art of purification) a greater expansion of well-being is created. When cleaning is combined with the technologies of yoga and its sister philosophies - ayurveda, meditation and vastu the result is the cultivation of sacred space within our homes and within our lives. You do not need to practice yoga to read this book and you need not be a germ-a-phoebe either. This essential guide will show you how to spiritualize your cleaning routine, take back your life and recreate your home as sacred space. Praise for The Yoga of Cleaning: In the yoga world, a popular meme is to take the practice off the mat and bring it into daily life. The Yoga of Cleaning does just that in full force and with playful intention. This very fascinating book poses the surprising interplay between yogic principles, yogic philosophy and the processes of cleaning. The Yoga of Cleaning is not just an esoteric overview that attempts to stimulate a deeper awareness and sense of spirituality to cleaning. Nor is it simply a “how to” cleaning manual. Instead, Jennifer has produced a work that merges the two in an engaging fashion, introducing the reader to methods that inspire otherwise mundane household and personal chores to something of a higher purpose. She reminds us that all actions have meaning and impact on our lives. She supports the process with holistic, efficient and streamlined strategies for care of the self and its surroundings. “The Yoga Plate brings us compassion and living right for our families, our planet and our animals—a beautiful offering for good all around.” —Julie Piatt and Rich Roll, bestselling authors, wellness leaders, chefs, and podcast hosts Discover 108 nourishing and delicious vegan recipes in the first modern cookbook to marry yoga’s principle of ahimsa with nutrition. We take a lot of care when it comes to choosing the proper clothing for yoga, the right accessories, the best studio—but primary to these considerations is an often overlooked yet vital component of practice: our diet. How we eat might be the most important aspect of an effective practice. How we eat is a huge component to the practice because it represents how we treat and nourish ourselves. By changing the way we eat physically and consciously, we can put ourselves on the path to greater well-being. In The Yoga Plate, LA-based yoga power couple Tamal and Victoria Dodge introduce readers to the philosophy of yoga as it is reflected in our eating choices. The 108 recipes are designed according to the concept of ahimsa, or non-harm. “Consciously or not, we can cause a lot of harm with our eating habits,” explain the authors. “Living with ahimsa means we try to cause the least harm possible to all living creatures.” Each recipe takes you through your daily practice of yoga, starting with “Morning Meditations,” where you’ll find smoothies and breakfasts to fuel and power you through the day; “A Plate Full of Prana,” with snacks, soups, and salads to revitalize your system; “A Bowl Full of Yin,” with recipes to help cultivate a centered mood; and “Sweet Savasana” for restorative and beneficial dessert options. A well-rounded yoga practice includes a conscious approach to the things we eat. With The Yoga Plate, readers can make each meal a sacred activity to support both our practice and well-being.

A New York Times bestseller ▪ A Library Journal Best Books of 2015 Pick ▪ A St. Louis Post-Dispatch Best Books of 2015 Pick ▪A GoodReads Top Ten Fiction Book of 2015 ▪ A People Magazine Great Read From New York Times bestselling author and neuroscientist Lisa Genova comes a “heartbreaking…very human novel” (Matthew Thomas, author of We Are Not Ourselves) that does for Huntington’s disease what her debut novel Still Alice did for Alzheimer’s. Joe O’Brien is a forty-three-year-old police officer from the Irish Catholic neighborhood of Charlestown, Massachusetts. A devoted husband, proud father of four children in their twenties, and respected officer, Joe begins experiencing bouts of disorganized thinking, uncharacteristic temper outbursts, and strange, involuntary movements. He initially attributes these episodes to the stress of his job, but as these symptoms worsen, he agrees to see a neurologist and is handed a diagnosis that will change his and his family’s lives forever: Huntington’s disease. Huntington’s is a lethal neurodegenerative disease with no treatment and no cure, and each of Joe’s four children has a 50 percent chance of inheriting their father’s disease. While watching her potential future in her father’s escalating symptoms, twenty-one-year-old daughter Katie struggles with the questions this test imposes on her young adult life. As Joe’s symptoms worsen and he’s eventually stripped of his badge and more, Joe struggles to maintain hope and a sense of purpose, while Katie and her siblings must find the courage to either live a life “at risk” or learn their fate. Praised for writing that “explores the resilience of the human spirit” (San Francisco Chronicle), Lisa Genova has once again delivered a novel as powerful and unforgettable as the human insights at its core.

This is truly a book for everyone, and probably one of the most important to have among your Buddhist book collection. By pulling together some of Lama Yeshe’s introductory teachings on Buddhism, meditation, compassion and emptiness, and combining them with the definitive explanation of tantra, this one valuable volume will inspire students to go more deeply into the Yoga Method of Buddha Maitreya–a tantric practice. Xavier Ireland is the assumed name of a radio-show host with a devoted following of listeners riveted by the sleepless loners who call in throughout the night to seek his advice. Off the air, he leads a low-key life of avoiding his neighbors, playing Scrabble, and maintaining an awkward friendship with his cohost, Murray. But his life begins to change when he meets a cleaning lady named Pippa, who becomes a constant, surprisingly necessary presence in his life as he starts facing up to his past and discovering solace and redemption in the most unexpected places. British comedian Mark Watson’s North American debut humorously and poignantly explores life and death, strangers and friends, heartache and comfort, and whether the choices we don’t make affect us just as powerfully as the ones we do.

WITHIN THE WINDS OF HOLLYWOOD Starring Joseph Yore Emporium, Pennsylvania, bruised his ego and broke his heart. So Joseph Yore left his hometown to go West in San Francisco, California to start his life anew. But fate took him to Hollywood in the fifties, sixties, and seventies where he became an aspiring singer-songwriter and actor. The winds of Hollywood brought him face to face with the rich and famous, among them Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson. Fame, however, really never smiled for him. Behind tinseltown's glitter and glamour is an ugly side of intrigue, controversy, and a kind of "culture" that favored only a few. While a high school girl shoved him aside for a jock in Emporium, a woman in Beverly Hills gave him the love he wanted all his life to have. Her sudden death brought him emptiness that could never be filled, but his heart started to yearn for his old hometown where kinship for the people, the rivers, the mountains, and the spirit of the dead all around run deep. In the end, the winds of Hollywood took back to Emporium, Pennsylvania, the home of many unsung war heroes. About the Author Joseph Yore a worked for Sylvania Electric before joining the Marine Corps during the Korean War. In 1958, he left Emporium, Pennsylvania, for Hollywood, where he appeared as an extra in both the movies and television shows. Forty years ago he did a documentary, "The Diary of a Hippy," which won the Telly Award, the Davey Award, and the Communicator Award.

Welcome to the “Clean Healthy Recipes 6 Week Weight Loss Challenge”: A guide to fresh, healthy and nutritious eating. This book is a 6 week clean eating challenge containing 100 healthy, delicious, easy to cook meals to help readers increase health, lose weight and feel great! Before you read any further, this challenge is not a diet. The word diet itself does nothing but set you up for failure. If you look up the definition of the word ‘diet’ in any dictionary you will fail to find a definition suggesting that a diet is “an unrestricted, yet healthy and balanced approach to what we consume, with the intention of not only improving, but sustaining a high level of both physical and mental health”. If a diet does not do this, then why would you even consider dieting? Yes, we can all agree it would be great to lose 10kgs in a week, but what’s the point of losing it if you’re going to put it back on? What you really need to focus on when trying to lose weight is making small healthy changes that remain with you forever. Educate yourself on what’s good for you, what’s bad for you, what you should consume more of and what you should consume less of and start incorporating these into your daily life. It might be hard at first but you can do it. Even if you only change one small habit a week by adding something that’s good for you and eliminating something that’s bad for you. Even if it takes you twelve months to get yourself into a healthy, life long eating plan, at least in 12 months you will be there. Remember, the one thing that we have no control over is time. It is the one variable that can never be controlled. 12 months from reading this article is going to be 12 months from reading this article no matter which way you look at it. You cannot change that. However, what you are doing and where you will be when that 12-month mark arrives is the variable that can be controlled. What you do within that 12 months is controlled entirely by you. You can either be in the same situation, or you can slowly chip away at what can appear to be an impossible task so that by the time the inevitable arrives, you are in a completely different situation. The choice is yours and its time to take control. Regardless of your current situation, when it comes to healthy eating, it’s never too early and it’s never too late.

Madonna! Megastar. Lover. Mother. Opportunist. Chameleon. Role model. She's all of these things...and more. Yet, who is she, really? In Madonna: An Intimate Biography, author J. Randy Taraborrelli's scrupulously researched and completely balanced unauthorized biography of one of the world's most celebrated entertainers, the reader is allowed to draw his or her own conclusions. Indeed, the portrait bestselling author Taraborrelli paints here is of a truly complex woman, one who is driven and determined to succeed at any cost, yet who displays remarkable vulnerability when it comes to matters of the heart. It is significant that Madonna: An Intimate Biography is the first such book written about the star in over a decade, because in the past ten years the ever-changing Madonna has gone through her biggest transformation yet -- from tempestuous sex goddess to happily married mother. Amazingly, as she launches her first worldwide tour in eight years, she is now -- at forty-something -- enjoying one of the most successful periods of her groundbreaking career. Whereas other books about Madonna have been based on previously published material, Madonna: An Intimate Biography is the result of ten years of exclusive interviews with people who are speaking publicly about her for the first time, including close friends, business associates and even family members. Since Taraborrelli interviewed the star herself early in her career, he is now able to draw from such firsthand experiences to place her success story in perspective and provide new, stunning insights. The true Madonna, as presented here, is not merely a sensation-seeking tabloid vixen, but a flesh-and-blood woman with human foibles and weaknesses -- as well as great strengths and ambitions. For the first time, the reader learns about the complex nature of her difficult relationship with her father, and how the two finally found one another after years of estrangement; how Warren Beatty broke her heart, and why the two never wed; how she and John Kennedy, Jr., became romantically involved, his mother's reaction to the prospect of Madonna as a daughter-in-law and why it could never have worked out; the truth of her relationships with the fathers of her two children and how, as a loving and attentive mother, she has evolved into a surprisingly different woman...and what the future holds for her. Madonna: An Intimate Biography is a truly explosive and definitive account of the life of an entertainer who is undoubtedly one of the most popular, trendsetting figures of our time. Full of amazing disclosures about her private life and public career, New York Times bestselling author J. Randy Taraborrelli's latest work reveals Madonna in a new -- and surprisingly inspiring -- way. Not only a feast for fans, this book is great entertainment for anyone who enjoys a remarkable story, stirringly told.
