The Tao Te Ching is one of the more popularly translated texts of all historical Chinese writings. Despite the many efforts that have gone into studying and translating Lao Tzus works, it is still remains very difficult to understand, even to native readers. Therefore, only those who fully comprehend the text can translate it properly. This version opts to give as accurate of a translation in as plain of English as possible. Since our goal is to bring a comprehendible Tao Te Ching to our readers, we decided against conforming to any sort of poetic forms. Although we used the same original text as some of the other translators, there are some notable differences in our interpretations, such as in Chapters One and Twenty. In order to better allow our readers to understand the text, this translation also compares Lao Tzus ideas with other great thinkers, such as Einstein and Napoleon.

Lao-tzu's Tao Te Ching, or Book of the Way, is the classic manual on the art of living and one of the wonders of the world. In eighty-one brief chapters, the Tao Te Ching llods at the basic predicatment of being alive and gives advice that imparts balance and perspective, a serene and generous spirit. This book is about wisdom in action. It teaches how wo work for the good with the efforless skill that comes from being in accord with the Tao (the basic principle of the universe) and applies equally to good government and sexual love, to childrearing, business, and ecology. The Tao Te Ching is the most widely traslated book in world literature, after the Bible. Yet the gemlike lucidity of the original has eluded most previous translations, and they have obscured some of its central ideas. Now the Tao Te ching has been rendered into English by the eminent scholar and traslator Stephen Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell's Dropping Ashes on the Buddha is a modern Zen classic, and his translations of Rilke and of the Book of Job have already been called definitive for our time.

The Classic Chinese Text - Brand New Complete Edition - Tao te Ching of Lao Tzu - The Tao Te Ching, along with the Zhuangzi, is a fundamental text for both philosophical and religious Taoism, and strongly influenced other schools, such as Legalism, Confucianism, and Chinese Buddhism, which when first introduced into China was largely interpreted through the use of Daoist words and concepts. Many Chinese artists, including poets, painters, calligraphers, and even gardeners, have used the Daodejing as a source of inspiration. Its influence has also spread widely outside East Asia, and is among the most translated works in world literature. The Wade-Giles romanization "Tao Te Ching" dates back to early English transliterations in the late 19th century; its influence can be seen in words and phrases that have become well established in English. "Daodejing" is the pinyin romanization.

The Spiritual Philosophy of the Tao Te Ching argues two main points: (1) the Tao Te Ching is a spiritual (not religious) book, and (2) it presents an implicit systematic philosophy. If we piece together the Tao's implicit and explicit views, we'll find it offers a consistently reasoned answer to life's three ultimate questions, the origin, nature, and purpose of life. Based on its answer to these questions, it offers a philosophy of life the prime goal of which is reunion with the Tao.

Dr. Wayne L. Wang discovered the 1800-year old errors in the traditional Taoism that has distorted the Tao Te Ching ever since. This book shows that it can be eliminated. This book shows a consistent Tao Te Ching interpretationsto reflect on the logic of Lao-tzu, which is clear for the first the time in 2500 years. We have added introductory summary in each Chapter so that the verses can be consistently relatedto the philosophical principle of Tao. We discuss the basic logicstructure in Part I. This logic is consistent with the ancient Greek and the Western thinking. This book represents a restoration of the philosophy of Lao-tzu. We can avoid the fuzziness of popular interpretations whichare due to an errors made about 1800 years ago by the Pro-Wu group (貴無論). In Part II, we have verse-by-verse translation and a summary of each chapter to reflects the relation to the logic structure of Lao-tzu philosophy. This is the ultimate interpretations of the Tao Te Ching. Many of Lao-tzu's words are puzzling to our minds. This is because we are used to think in terms of objects and have to construct the actualities with logic.
