The Christian s Union Communion and Conformity to Jesus Christ In His Death and Resurrection

This work is a biblical masterpiece on Romans 6:5, “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.” Brinsley sets into view the Christian’s union and communion with, and conformity to, Jesus Christ. He shows that it is a union, communion and conformity applied to the believer in Christ’s death and resurrection. Believers are “planted together” with Christ in a mystical implantation; they are converted by faith in Him, have unity in Him, have a blessed communion in Him, while at the same time being nourished, show forth growth, bear fruit, and have sustenance through Christ’s Spirit. After establishing the union, communion and conformity believers have in Christ, he teaches how Christ’s death and resurrection apply to believers as they are grafted into the life-giving Root of the Savior. He covers how believers die to sin, what it means to mortify sin, and how to live in righteousness through the power of the resurrecting Spirit of Christ. Such a resurrection is not only first in this life through regeneration, but also the hope which Christians have in the blessed return of the Savior who will resurrect them ultimately in glory hereafter. This work is not a scan or facsimile, has been carefully transcribed by hand being made easy to read in modern English, and has an active table of contents for electronic versions.

Excerpt from The Christian Union Quarterly, Vol. 19: Interdenominational and International; July, 1929 WE have been talking about Christian unity for a good While. Too frequently We have been up in the air with a multi tude Of generalities. The Reconciliation Pact, which appeared in the last issue of The Christian Union Quarterly, was an adventure to bring us to the earth to face the facts. Should the churches abandon their divisions for unity? Are we willing to go sympathetically into all Christian unity conferences? Do we recognize that all Christians are equals before God, so that no Christian will be denied membership in our churches, nor a place in our celebration Of the Lord's supper, nor other minis ters be denied our pulpits because they are not of the same denomination as our Own? Are we willing to carry good-will to our brethren Of other denominations as we do to our brethren Of our own denommations? These are pertinent questions and many are answering them without equivocation. The interest in the pact has grown so that it has been decided to hold a conference in New York, at St. George's Church, November 13-15, 1929. It is proposed to have a mem bership in the conference of one thousand persons from as many denominations as will Sign the pact. On the first evening, November 13th, there Will be a reception for the members of the conference and their friends who may accompany them. It will afford an opportunity for mutual acquaintance in preparation for the conference. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from The Christian Union Quarterly, 1934, Vol. 23 Instead of helping in adventures toward brother hood every last one of these hundreds of denominations is struggling separately to witness for Jesus as though that particular brand is essential to the life of Chris tianity, while all the time Christianity is lying upon its bed, sick almost unto death because of this plague of a divided Christendom, some so rigidly staying away from other Christians, that they are choking to death the Spirit of Jesus. However well the denominations have prospered it must not be forgot that a divided Christendom is doomed.
