It is very beneficial for you that both books, “Philosophy of Health” and “Philosophy of Life”, are published simultaneously. Between them, you will be able to find answers to many doubts and questions that come up in your mind while reading. The second part is, in fact, a necessary complement to the first. I suggest you read these books many times, for a better understanding and acceptance of the Order which they describe. My purpose is to help you, because I know that with this knowledge you can completely re-evaluate your current outlook on life and health. It is important that you fully understand and accept the knowledge in these two books and do not implement my recommendations in a partial manner, picking and choosing only what suits you. Do not panic if you find that your current way of life radically differs from the one that I recommend. Nature is patient and will support you in setting your life. Just trust it.

My general impression is best expressed by stating how I was struck by the intensity of this report on the most difficult years in the history of mankind. Stories I heard of and I knew of all my childhood, which I seemed to have forgotten or which were pushed away in my memory, came to life once again. There are magnificent descriptions of nature and discreet observations of human feelings The colorful language does a lot to make the horrors which have to be reported bearable. Renata Kartsaklis, Ph.D., Librarian, Dalhousie University Depicting the tragic Russian era from the First World War and the Bolshevik Revolution, through to the man-made Ukrainian famine of the thirties and World War Two, Sword and Plowshare is a powerful historical novel that dramatically portrays the emotional intensity of its victimized German-Russian characters. The realism of the story combines a command of authentic details and a profusion of metaphorical style not always found in historical novels. The war scenes are gripping and the lengthy section on the horrendous famine is shocking in its realistic portrayal. The novels narrative tension never wavers, but the bleak historical events are not allowed to overpower or to make irrelevant the all-too-human feelings of fear, despair, hatred, hope and love expressed by these German-Russian victims who finally flee to war-torn Germany, only to face further threats to their lives. This is a novel that will relentlessly grip the reader. Al Reimer Professor Emeritus, Dept. of English, University of Winnipeg

When they agreed to spend Halloween night in the middle of a swamp, the boys of the Society of Sublime Scribblers thought they were in for a few scary stories, but they never expected to become part of one! Instead of treats, the boys receive a heaping bag of tricks when the Bayou Bogeyman traps them into playing his twisted game: unless they can tell stories sinister enough to chill even the Bogeyman's bones, the boys might just become his midnight feast. In this haunting collection of Louisiana frights, an unsuspecting girl is shrunk down to the size of a speck of dust by a devilish miniature artist, a pair of ghostly children try to outsmart a voodoo queen, and a doll that lives in the walls whispers terrible things to sleeping children. These waking nightmares are enough to send even the bravest grownups hiding under the blankets, but will they keep the Bayou Bogeyman from devouring the innocent Scribblers? Written by nine Southern authors with a proclivity for the paranormal, this middle reader collection is sure to satisfy horror lovers of all ages. But consider yourself warned--you might just need to sleep with the lights on!

The Ozarks

"Vance Randolph was perfectly constituted for his role as the chronicler of Ozark folkways. As a self-described "hack writer," who first visited the region as a child with his middle-class parents, he was as much a figure of the margins as his chosen subjects. And his essentially romantic identification with the Ozarks--encouraged by the editors of the era--was always tempered by his scientific training and his contrarian nature. In The Ozarks, originally published in 1931, we have Randolph's first book-length portrait of the people he would spend the next half-century studying. The full range of Randolph's interests--in language, in hunting and fishing, in folksongs and play parties, in moonshining--is on view in this book that made his name; forever after he was "Mr. Ozark," the region's preeminent expert who would, in collection after collection, enlarge and deepen his debut effort. With a new introduction by Robert Cochran, The Ozarks , an image shaper in its day, a cultural artifact for decades to come, this wonderful book is as entertaining as ever." --Back cover.

Why is it that certain paintings fascinate us so? What is it about them that makes them so alluring? Whether prehistoric cave paintings or Renaissance masterpieces, this richly illustrated volume explains the story behind the people and events depicted in the world's most renowned works of art. The authors offer compelling and other amusing insights and approach art's icons in a refreshingly unconventional manner. In a light, uncomplicated style, they describe why many of these works became symbols of an entire age. They take account of major themes, such as love, dreams, revolution, and war, to explain why certain works were considered important in their day, and why they have remained crucial ever since. The headings of the individual texts succinctly describe the significance of each painting, and all works are exquisitely reproduced as full-page colour illustrations.
