Including over 100 pages of new material, Pretty Little Killers shares the latest theories and answers the questions that have left many people baffled. After killer Shelia Eddy pled guilty to first degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison and Rachel Shoaf was sentenced to thirty years for second-degree murder, family, friends, investigators, and other key sources reveal the facts you would have learned if the case had gone to trial. Including specific details drawn from Rachel’s confession, Pretty Little Killers looks at the crime through the eyes of the victim and killers, providing intimate testimony from the pages of Rachel’s personal journal, Skylar’s diary and school papers, and court records. Berry and Fuller examine all this, including previously unreported details about Rachel and Shelia’s rumored lesbian relationship and explain why more than one investigator believes Skylar’s murder was a thrill kill. Most important, Pretty Little Killers provides a satisfying answer to Skylar’s final question: “Why?”

The predators become prey in a breathless novel of revenge from a USA Today bestselling author. Still haunted by his wife's murder--and stained by the blood of avenging it--FBI special agent Hatcher McGee can't believe he's being teamed up with rookie agent Korine Davenport. She is his most guilty secret--the one-night stand who almost cost him everything. Korine has her own demons. She and Hatcher are both looking for closure, but the disturbing case that draws them together could be their last. When the mutilated body of a corrupt Savannah judge surfaces, Hatcher and Korine find themselves on the trail of a vigilante who is showing no mercy. Not for the predators who've gone free. There are no dress codes and weight requirements to be a killer; it's just something that you do. It starts out as an accident and then turns into an illicit love affair. The thrill keeps you high and the death keeps you low, but that's just the beginning of your problems. No one would ever suspect you because you were petite and soft spoken, and most importantly, you were beautiful. With long pretty tresses and a beautiful Colgate smile you're nothing more than just a pretty face. But will just a pretty face shoot you in the chest at point blank range? Will a just a pretty face watch as the last bit of life is sucked out of you? My girls and I were so alike, but yet so different. I chose the blood, I chose the guns, and I chose this life, but they weren't so lucky. This life was forced upon them, they weren't no killers, they were school teachers and models, spoiled brats, and beauty queens. Their only sin was being born pretty, they had pretty girl problems, me included, I was light skin with thick long hair and smoldering brown eyes. When I talked people listened. I had men eating out the palm of my hands, all except one, but I was like Eve in the Garden of Eden. I was persuasive. Chanel, Mariah, and I were showstoppers, but being pretty didn't come without triumphs, many tried us and many failed, I demanded respect, and I never accepted anything less. Mariah was an aspiring model and with looks that could make Naomi Campbell take a back seat, so drama naturally gravitated towards her. Chanel was a special education teacher with a heart of gold, but when her father was brutally murdered her life changed in a blink of an eye and as for me... There's not much I can say about myself; I can only be me. One upon a time we were all just little pretty girls who turned into...Pretty Little Killers

Fear becomes a woman's greatest weapon in a heart-pounding novel of suspense from the USA Today bestselling author of Pretty Little Killers. Tinsley Jensen survived the torturous clutches of an elusive masked killer dubbed the Skull, only to be held hostage by her nightmares. She's terrified of leaving her cottage on Seahawk Island, knowing that the madman is still out there. FBI special agent Wyatt Camden knows it too. He may have rescued Tinsley, but her captor got away. Now he's driven by guilt, the need for vengeance, and the desire to protect--at any cost--the woman he's come to love. Too paranoid to deal with the police, the media, and her sister, Tinsley finds solace in an online support group. She's too broken to let even Wyatt into her life. But when the threats against Tinsley escalate and her friend disappears, Tinsley is forced out of her self-imposed seclusion to finally face her fears. Wyatt is the only man she can trust to help her, and to save a killer's latest catch. Now, Wyatt just wants to finish the job he started. But that's all the Skull wants too.

The New Action Heroine in Popular Culture

Beyond Bombshells analyzes the cultural importance of strong women in a variety of current media forms. Action heroines are now more popular in movies, comic books, television, and literature than they have ever been. Their spectacular presence represents shifting ideas about female agency, power, and sexuality. Beyond Bombshells explores how action heroines reveal and reconfigure perceptions about "how" and "why" women are capable of physically dominating roles in modern fiction, indicating the various strategies used to contain and/or exploit female violence. Focusing on a range of successful and controversial recent heroines in the mass media, including Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games books and movies, Lisbeth Salander from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo novels and films, and Hit-Girl from the Kick-Ass movies and comic books, Brown argues that the role of action heroine reveals evolving beliefs about femininity. While women in action roles are still heavily sexualized and objectified, they also challenge preconceived myths about normal or culturally appropriate gender behavior. The ascribed sexuality of modern heroines remains Brown's consistent theme, particularly how objectification intersects with issues of racial stereotyping, romantic fantasies, images of violent adolescent and preadolescent girls, and neoliberal feminist revolutionary parables. Individual chapters study the gendered dynamics of torture in action films, the role of women in partnerships with male colleagues, young women as well as revolutionary leaders in dystopic societies, adolescent sexuality and romance in action narratives, the historical import of non-white heroines, and how modern African American, Asian, and Latina heroines both challenge and are restricted by longstanding racial stereotypes.
