In this volume of The New Church s Teaching Series, Mark McIntosh introduces the great mysteries of the Christian faith: the doctrines of creation, revelation, incarnation, salvation, and eschatology, which are all held together by the doctrine of the Trinity. To explain these beliefs for Christians today, particularly the Trinity, McIntosh begins with what we know: the language of relationship and mutuality, of friendship and family ties. The central theme of the book is our relationship with Jesus and our relationship with our neighbor, for such mutuality lies at the heart of every doctrine. McIntosh s starting point is the fact that every one of us is a theologian, for we are all drawn to approach the mysteries of faith with attention and love. By drawing on our common experiences as members of a community of faith, particularly through the sacraments of baptism and eucharist, he helps us to explore these mysteries for ourselves and to see how we might live them in our daily lives. As with each book in The New Church s Teaching Series, recommended resources for further reading and questions for discussion are included."

Is Understanding Faith a Mystery to you? Unfortunately you are not alone in your search to grasp the concept of faith. Those who have understood it in the past have made sure that we stay somewhat in the dark, believing that "understanding faith" is reserved for a select few. Their explanations have been cloudy at best, leading us to come to the conclusion that it is a belief that can not be fully comprehended. Unraveling the Mysteries of Faith is a book written with the purpose of helping anyone work out the complexities of faith. It will put a handle on the unexplainable, open the door to the unattainable, and bring your faith to a level that will allow God to unleash His glory. There is only on way to be pleasing to God and that is to live by faith (Hebrews 11:6). This book will help you get there.

Led into Mystery is an unanticipated sequel to John de Gruchy's book Being Human: Confessions of a Christian Humanist. It was prompted by the untimely and tragic death of his eldest son, Steve, in February 2010, and the questions this posed about the meaning of life and death from the perspective of Christian faith. A further prompt came as a result of a multi-disciplinary research project on "the humanist imperative in South Africa" (2009-2010). This raised critical questions about being human from the perspective of science, especially neuroscience, as well as other faith and secular perspectives. All these inform the discussion which is an exploration of mystery on the boundaries of human knowledge and experience, engagement with the world and the evolution of consciousness from a specifically Christian theological perspective. The title derives from Karl Rahner's comment that theology is about being led back into mystery -- the ultimate mystery of God disclosed in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus and the creative presence of the Spirit in the life of the world. This mystery is an open secret waiting to be explored, expressed and entered into by faith. In doing so, we discern the fragmentary mystery of being human alone and in relationship within the constraints of our time and space. We are rudely encountered by the perplexing mysteries of evil and death, but embraced by the mysteries of goodness and beauty, hope and love. We draw on memory and imagination to develop a language that enables us to explore mystery through the genre of myth, parable, poetry, the novel, music and art, we participate in the mysteries of faith that communicate grace, forgiveness, and freedom which enable us to be more fully human in the life of the world in the struggles for justice and peace.

How can the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit be three distinct persons and yet only one God? How can Jesus Christ, the Son of God, be 100% human and 100% God at the same time? Christianity is filled with mysteries, truths that do not match the tests of reason and logic. Yet this does not mean that Christian truth is less than reasonable or logical; it means that the truth about God transcends reason and logic. This book examines seven mysteries-things we would not know to be true if God had not revealed them to us. From the mystery of the Holy Trinity to the mystery of Election, those difficult-to-understand truths are examined one by one. Redemption, faith, the Church, and Christian living are also treated in this book of mysteries. Rather than rejecting Christianity because it transcends reason and logic, readers are invited to rejoice in the mysteries of our God.

In The Sacraments We Celebrate: A Catholic Guide to the Seven Mysteries of Faith, the second book in the Pillars of Faith series, Msgr. Peter J. Vaghi introduces the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. Drawing from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the U.S. Catholic Catechism for Adults, and the writings of Benedict XVI and John Paul II, Msgr. Vaghi's easy-to-use resource considers each of the sacraments from a personal, communal, and social perspective. The chapters explore the sacraments as a whole and examine the scriptural foundation, the history, and the symbolism of each. At a time when Mass attendance, Confession, and the celebration of Catholic weddings are all declining, the clarity and accessibility of Msgr. Peter Vaghi's writing on the meaning of these celebrations, complemented by questions for reflection and prayer, makes The Sacraments We Celebrate a vital resource for any Catholic seeking to understand these central actions of the faith.

History Of Hidden Mysteries & Other Stories gives definitive expression to many of Faith's key themes: the sadness of untimely death; the hidden secretes of man's nature that destroyed families; the innocent loss of young lives and the joys of doing good. Her first collection of short stories charts unexplained incidents and draws inspirations from the authors vision on the hidden mysteries, activities, events and everyday happenings that are interrupting and changing people's lives. For she knew that the spirits of this world contain dark mysteries that can never be understood or uncovered by slothful hypothesis.
