And That’s the Truth! Meaningful fiction to stimulate your mind and nurture your soul is a treasury of short fiction stories. Most of the narrators in Part One are animals talking about themselves. You learn how dozens of animals live, eat, and survive through dialogue and description. Look, too, for inanimate objects to spring to life and talk about themselves: a houseplant, a stop sign, a dollar bill, and others. Part Two gives you “traditional” fictional stories with lively characters and believable or not-so-believable storylines. All of the stories leave you with a nugget of wisdom or a bit of a chuckle. Sprinkled throughout Part Two are a few short articles of general interest non-fiction. Whether you read the stories in order or at random, you will come away enriched with inspirational and encouraging accounts that stimulate your mind and nurture your soul.

You are not a Visionary… yet. The Lean Entrepreneur shows you how to become one. Most of us believe entrepreneurial visionaries are born, not made. Our media glorify business outliers like Bezos, Branson, Gates, and Jobs as heroes with X-ray vision who can look to the future, see clearly what will be, imagine a fully formed product or experience and then, simply make the vision real. Many in our entrepreneur community still believe that to be visionary, we must merely execute on a seemingly good idea and ignore all doubt. With this mindset, companies build doomed products in a vacuum; enterprises make ill-fated innovation investment decisions; and employees and shareholders come along for an uncomfortable ride. Falling prey to the Myth of the Visionary confuses talented entrepreneurs, product managers, innovators and investors. It leads us to heartbreaking, costly and preventable failures in new product and venture development. The Lean Entrepreneur moves us beyond this myth. It combines powerful customer insight, rapid experimentation and easily actionable data from the Lean Startup methodology to empower individuals, companies, and entire teams to evolve their vision, solve problems, and create value at the speed of the Internet. Anyone can be visionary. The Lean Entrepreneur shows you how to: Apply actionable tips, tricks and hacks from successful lean entrepreneurs. Leverage the Innovation Spectrum to disrupt existing markets and create new ones. Drive strategies for efficient market testing with Minimal Viable Products. Engage customers with Viability Testing and radically reduce time and budget for product development. Rapidly create cross-functional innovation teams that devour roadblocks and set new benchmarks. Bring your organization critical focus on the power of loyal customers and valuable products you can build to serve them. Im mad as Hell, and Im not going to take it any more. So begins Satans autobiography, E-MAILS FROM THE UNDERWORLD: I AM NOT WHO I AM NOT. So long as God remained Out There,a transcendent, superhero who occasionally intervened in human affairs based on no apparent rhyme or reason, Satan was comfortable with the arrangement. God -- Out There. Satan in here. That's the way it was supposed to be. But with the publication of I AM WHO I AM: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF GOD, it's a whole new game. In his mind, Satan, a metaphorical symbol for all the inner demons that keep humankind imprisoned within, has no choice but to come out with his own story. God has laid down the gauntlet; now it is time to respond, he proclaims. Let the best (or worst) deity win. And Satan is a cocky cuss. When it comes to laying claim to an inner presence within, his confidence runneth over. As he himself puts it, Im your inner demons. Im Anger, Envy, Lust, Pride. Im Greed, Impatience, Sloth. Im Judgmentalism, Im Bigotry, Im Stereotyping, Im all the sneaky little -isms and -igotries that allow you humanoids to think youre better than somebody else. You all know Im deep down inside every one of you. The story of Satan is a story of erupting from within. But Satan isnt just going to tell his lifes story, hes going to show it to you. E-mail by e-mail. From tweaking the Beatitudes to the Bad Dude's Baditudes," to offering a new set of Ten Commandments to Hell, Satan takes you on a roller-coaster ride of your own inner demons. By books end, a conscientious reader will have picked up more than enough tricks of the trade to insure a speedy and successful trip to metaphorical Hell (not to mention, of course, the ways to avoid it). (E-MAILS FROM THE UNDERWORLD: I AM NOT WHO I AM NOT is the second of a three part series of autobiographies of God, Satan, and Jesus, respectively. Be sure to complete your own collection of the trilogy with copies of I AM WHO I AM: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF GOD, and I AM THE WORD: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF JESUS.)

Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood. (Marie Curie) The nature of people is to shun the unknown, which is what a handful of people in the town of Springdale were doing to Charlie Goodbear. Charlie Goodbear by Tom Thunderhorse is an inspirational tale about the lives of a few small town folks and a good-hearted and misunderstood man named Charlie. The book begins with a detailed explanation of the characters and the town of Springdale. Thunderhorses perfect description of the stereotypical small town life makes you feel close to the characters. It is as if you are part of the gang and not just a silent spectator. The story unfolds only to pull you deeper into the lives of these colorful characters. A wonderful element this book has to offer is humor, and more than one kind. This book will have its reader laughing as well as sitting in silent amusement at some particular quirk. Do not think for one minute that this book is a comedy, however, it will have you near tears at some points too. A word of warning to all the books potential readers: This book is religious! Thats right, Ive said the R word. However, what is more important for those who are sensitive about the aforementioned R word, it is not preachy. This story does not attempt to convert you or convince you of the benefits of believing what these characters do believe. Feel safe, people of all faiths, your beliefs are out of harm's way, so if you can get past the rest of it, just sit back and enjoy the tale. Charlie Goodbear offers an ending that can only be described as bittersweet, but I will not spoil it for any potential readers who may be reading this. You will just have to acquire a copy of this wonderful book for yourself. When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say, I used everything you gave me. ~Erma Bombeck "I have known Tom Thunderhorse for a good amount of time now and knowing him has made this book all the more enjoyable for me. I could hear his voice in my head as I read and his sense of humor and personality comes though in every character. I feel very touched to have been given the opportunity to enjoy his novel before it becomes available to the rest of the world and truly blessed to have met him." ~This Review By, Christina Malley

I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE DID THAT! offers a new and compelling perspective on conflict and competition among women in the workplace. Nan Mooney explores how and why some women hurt each other on the job, and what we can do to begin cleaning up the mess. Based on real stories from real women, I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE DID THAT! provides a provocative social and cultural exploration of the often troubled and painful dynamics that unfold among female coworkers. The massive influx of women into the workplace in the past thirty years means a whole new category of problems has arisen. Suddenly women are working over, under and alongside other women. Their professional relationships are subject to the pressures and conflicts of organizational culture, not to mention society at large. Women on the job have grown more comfortable with ambition, competition, management and success, but that hasn't negated the value they place on communication and relationships, on being liked and being nice. Striking a balance between these two selves is a delicate undertaking and many women are uncertain how to interact in a workplace where such lines are regularly being blurred. Working together, women have fostered a breathtaking degree of positive change. But there is another side to the story. If women are to continue moving forward, the time has come to examine — honestly and unequivocally — our very human impulse to compete with, hurt and even destroy one another to get what we want. In I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE DID THAT! Nan Mooney provides vivid insights on the emotional toll competition can take on women in business and charts a path towards more productive and fulfilling relationships for professional women everywhere.

By making explicit linkages both to social work practice and to the history of management thought, covering the rapidly expanding field of nonprofit studies, and incorporating management approaches from Henri Fayol's principles to Total Quality Management, this pioneering work grounds the practice of social administration in the profession of social work and agency-based practice better than any text presently available. The book also addresses ways in which the strategic vision of social administrators can be used to build humane and lasting welfare institutions, further social justice, and confront oppression. To accomplish this task, the authors blend several perspectives: social administration as management, as a form of social work practice emphasizing professional and community leadership, as decision making influenced by values and ethics and as institution building. Divided into an introduction, an afterword, and twenty-five topical chapters, Social Administration discusses issues of executive and program leadership as well as such environmental concerns as community, social agency, and a range of special topics, including accountability, ethics, contracting, and working with boards.

The American legal system is far from perfect. High standards of fairness and equal justice for all are lacking, and conflicts of interest are an integral part of the systems practitioners. In Law Street, author Wim J.M. Touw discusses the ills of the American legal system and investigates the roots of its dysfunction. In his analysis Touw argues that American lawyers have lost their moral and ethical moorings; he provides a unique perspective of how American lawyers have manipulated the British common law system for their own financial benefit or to advance their careers. He compares the legal system of the United States with systems in the worlds foremost democracies to illustrate how American jurisprudence has strayed from its mission. Finally, he examines the criminal law system that puts innocent people in jail and explains in detail how the tort system, the contingency fee, and the loser pays laws have turned the once noble profession of lawyering into a profitable, unregulated business corrupting the legal process. Touw argues that what is good for Wall Street is good for Law Street and explains why American bar associations do not provide proper oversight. With thorough explanations and examples, Law Street tells a story about serious flaws in the American legal system and provides a wake-up call for Americas dysfunctional and often corrupt legal system.

Summer means two things to Melanie Travis: a break from her teaching duties at Connecticut’s elite Howard Academy and a chance to plan the perfect wedding to her fiancé, Sam. She certainly doesn’t need the unwelcome arrival of a dinner invitation “peace offering” from Sam’s ex-wife, Sheila Vaughn. To make matters worse, Sheila announces her temporary stay in town is now permanent: she’s accepted a job as co-publisher of Woof!, a new gossip rag for the dog show world. But before the first issue is even out, a hotter story breaks when Sheila is found dead, strangled with a leather dog leash. As far as Melanie’s concerned, the woman should have been on a leash long ago. And it seems she isn’t alone in her dislike of Sheila. Some of Woof!’s salacious stories threatened to expose the dirty paws of quite a few important exhibitors, and someone on Sheila’s staff may have found her high-handed attitude worth silencing. Now, it will take the instincts of a bloodhound to sniff out a killer who’s bent on putting an end to Melanie’s amateur sleuthing . . . “A winning cozy . . . there are some tender moments here and the ending is a surprise on more than one front.” —PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
