"This phenomenal collection of photographs, coupled with the stories which illuminate each image, will enrich any reader's mind with deeply thought-provoking concepts. What Julie Griffin has captured on film is equally compelling and significant. It will prove to be an outstanding contribution to a supernatural conversation occurring worldwide." Andrea Perron, Author "House of Darkness House of Light" www.houseofdarknesshouselight.com ~ o ~ The spirit world is constantly around us; they don t wait until the middle of the night. I have photographed spirit energy as early as 11:30 in the morning, outdoors on a clear sunny day in May. Learn out about the full body apparitions that were captured indoors by the camera not once, but twice as they moved. My travels have taken me to the Lizzie Borden House, Gettysburg, Rolling Hills Asylum, Eastern State Penitentiary, an amazing haunted B&B in NY State, and many other places. These are the stories behind the photographs and what happened on the investigations. I have experienced objects physically moved by an unknown source, a frightened spirit rush out of a basement and pass through the right side of my body, plus a disembodied male voice who s comment was directed at me. And an unexpected message given by a Medium from a friend s late husband. I was told a list of many items to tell her about, including a broken gravy boat. So enjoy these real ghost encounters from the comfort of your favorite chair. They are ghost stories you can see with your own eyes.

Ghost Image

Ghost Image is made up of sixty-three short essays—meditations, memories, fantasies, and stories bordering on prose poems—and not a single image. Hervé Guibert’s brief, literary rumination on photography was written in response to Roland Barthes’s Camera Lucida, but its deeply personal contents go far beyond that canonical text. Some essays talk of Guibert’s parents and friends, some describe old family photographs and films, and spinning through them all are reflections on remembrance, narcissism, seduction, deception, death, and the phantom images that have been missed. Both a memoir and an exploration of the artistic process, Ghost Image not only reveals Guibert’s particular experience as a gay artist captivated by the transience and physicality of his media and his life, but also his thoughts on the more technical aspects of his vocation. In one essay, Guibert searches through a cardboard box of family portraits for clues—answers, or even questions—about the lives of his parents and more distant relatives. Rifling through vacation snapshots and the autographed images of long-forgotten film stars, Guibert muses, “I don’t even recognize the faces, except occasionally that of an aunt or great-aunt, or the thin, fair face of my mother as a young girl.” In other essays, he explains how he composes his photographs, and how—in writing—he seeks to escape and correct the inherent limits of his technique, to preserve those images lost to his technical failings as a photographer. With strains of Jean Genet and recurring themes that speak to the work of contemporary artists across a range of media, Guibert’s Ghost Image is a beautifully written, melancholic ode to existence and art forms both fleeting and powerful—a unique memoir at the nexus of family, memory, desire, and photography.

In The Grey Ghost: New York City Photographs, Dan Winters turns his eye to New York City, collecting over 100 black-and-white images he created there in the years after moving to New York from California in 1987 at the age of 25. A highly personal collection, The Grey Ghost reveals an artist finding his voice, discovering "that elusive method that informs the manner in which we perceive and interpret our surroundings." In these photographs-- featuring icons of New York City such as the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building, as well as everyday moments captured on the street--we find Winters presenting us with the seemingly ordinary and commonplace in a way that captivates us and makes us look much more closely. As Winters writes, New York "has acted as a proving ground and a right of passage for countless photographers," beginning with Alfred Stieglitz and Paul Strand. For those interested in street photography, New York City, black-and-white imagery, or the earlier work of one of today's most compelling photographers, The Grey Ghost is a must-have addition to your photobook collection.

Told with uncensored Southern wit and guidance, this inspirational memoir “is a good primer on getting into the psychic realm” (Booklist) and recounts the story of a Hollywood film executive who journeys through the cosmic wilderness and, against all odds, discovers psychic superpowers that radically transformed her life. As a senior executive at one of the world’s largest movie studios, Julie Rieger spent her days marketing the imaginary stories of ghosts, faeries, superheroes, aliens, and more fantastical creatures. But after the devastating loss of her mother, the world of make-believe became reality when Julie captured her first ghost in a photograph and blew open a door to the Other Side. The Ghost Photographer chronicles Julie’s wild ride down the spiritual rabbit hole. After a series of unexpected, mind-blowing, and sometimes frightening encounters with the spirit realm, Julie was forced to face this strange awakening, flying in the face of scientific dogma and her own die-hard skepticism. Ultimately, she discovered that what she thought she had lost with the death of her mother—unconditional love—was in fact the greatest superpower one can wield. “A hugely entertaining must-read for anyone who’s ever struggled with loss or wondered what might be beyond the veil of our five senses” (Anita Moorjani, author of Dying To Be Me), The Ghost Photographer offers insights into our relationship with the spirit world, prayers and rituals for cleansing and protecting our homes from unwanted ghosts, and guidance on how to develop our intuition and sixth sense.

"TEXAS GHOSTS: Paranormal Urban Landscape Photography" is a compilation of photo-essays about energy sensitive psychic locations. In 2009 I traveled to Texas to pick up some paintings that I had left at a Doctor's office / gallery. During this trip, I took thousands of photographs whenever I felt psychically inspired or moved. Many incredible and paranormal things happened on that trip. I think Texas is a magical land of enchantment. I don't know why I had to live there, but I know that I have learned that many things in life can not be planned but just happen spontaneously. Of the images I took, these are the ones that moved me the most. And then, I worked on them to more closer reflect my psychic feelings. These here are 'psychic' images. And some of the photo-paintings have psychic messages. This book is part of a series of books dedicated to "THE PSYCHIC ART MOVEMENT."

I photographed these image photo-paintings when I visited Santa Barbara in 2008. It was my first time going there and as a psychic who sees 'spirit' and senses energies, I was impressed by the tremendous amount of psychic spirit energy there. Santa Barbara, California, from the perspective of the psychic artist is a place filled with spirits and ghosts. As the Psychic Artist, I take photographs and am attracted to places that have unusual energies of spirit. I usually take thousands of photographs when I visit places. I then pick the ones that I feel and sense have psychic energy of some kind. I then arduously work on them aiming to artistically convey to others what I, as a psychic, SEE! In other words, these photo-paintings exemplify what I see as a psychic and this is what I am trying to convey! This book is PART I of two parts. Together, both books encompass the following sections:I Spirit Energy Living Auras: In this series of paintings I was inspired by spirits, ghosts and energy that I sensed in different urban and ocean locations.II Spiritual Esoteric Landscapes: This series expresses the essence and FEEL of environmental energy at different times of the day or night.III Metaphysical Realism: In this series I wanted to show a more realistic photo-painting style based on physical reality.IV Black & White Romantic Nostalgia: I enjoy black and white photo-art because of its dramatic expression and power.V Tropical Palm Tree Quadtych: There are scenes that most be painted in different colors. This is what this series exemplifies. VI Floral Kisses: I enjoy flowers and their energies tremendously. Everything has energy, plants and flowers too. In this series I am trying to capture the energy of the flowers. In this book we are presenting Sections III, IV, V & VI.

Focusing on previously unpublished material found in archives from around the world, These Ghostly Archives aims to reconstruct the ghostly figure of Plath within our culture via unseen letters, manuscripts, photographs, places and poems. This book approaches archival studies exploring both the practical and experiential work carried out in the archive, highlighting the ‘detective’-type work that it involves and the traces left behind from history. However, for the first time, this work also combines the sociological notion of ‘haunting’ - that is, the archive as a location where researchers haunt the research subject and in turn are haunted by the traces left behind. Never is material culture more powerful than when associated with the dead; never is the archive ghostlier when haunted by the absent presence of Plath. This book showcases the necessity to leave no archival box or folder left unopened, and how the researcher and the archive can change even though its documents might stay the same. A woman’s love of impressionist art draws her into a ghostly mystery along the North Yorkshire coastline. Staying alone in a sprawling, long-abandoned estate in Yorkshire would be madness to some. On the other hand, art enthusiast Lissy de Luca is looking forward to the isolation—and to beginning her research into the Staithes Group. It was here, more than a century ago, that the roiling seas and towering cliffs inspired the artistic passions of the famed commune. For Lissy, one of the most inspiring sights is the imposing Sea Scarr Hall itself—but the longer she stays, the stranger things get. There is the lonely figure who strolls the cove at night, and a hidden painting that is both seductive and unnerving. And then there’s the photograph Lissy finds of a young girl—one so unnaturally beautiful and so eerily familiar. Each discovery is leading Lissy to a chilling conclusion. She’s not alone at all. Those who once occupied the shadows of the manor house have a message for her. And they’re going to make sure she gets it. It’s a matter of life and death.

The idea of ghosts existing is hard for most people to believe, but there is an accumulation of evidence in that appears to prove otherwise. Until one is actually involved in investigating the subject, an opinion cannot truly be formed one way or the other. The author, who has spent years of studying and investigating the paranormal, has written this book to help those who want to prove that there are ghosts in existence, or even to prove that they do not exist. With years of expertise in the subject, he keeps an open mind when confronted with any potentially paranormal phenomena, and checks everything very carefully before coming to a conclusion. With the help of this book, the paranormal investigator will be able to take steps to discover if there is a ghost haunting a location, who they were in life and why they're haunting that location now, and perhaps provide sufficient evidence to prove the ghost's existence, or that any phenomena experienced have a natural explanation.
