In the front material of this book both a foreword and a preface appear. What the content of a preface should be is well understood. It is the author's retrospective account of intent, of the labors to accomplish that intent, and of the content of the book that resulted. What a foreword should be is less obvious. Most properly, it is perhaps the brief testimony of one who knows the accomplishments of the author and the scope of the field and who may direct readers to the book. On some basis, the writer is assumed to have earned the right to undertake such a task. To undertake the writing of a foreword for so considerable a researcher, teacher, and scholar as Alfred Evans can be seen not only as an honor but also as a daunting one. My first thought, in truth, is that this wine needs no blush and that no foreword is needed. As John Rodman Paul Professor of Epidemiology at Yale, Alfred Evans has an established reputation in the field of causality. We have learned from his insights about the evolution of causal thinking as epidemiology passed from the era of the germ theory into that of the search for causes of chronic noncontagious diseases. It was he who drew attention to the effect of specific context in that evolution.

For Medical doctors and health professionals only. Using old-fashioned analytical comparisons of symptom similarities and differences -- as opposed to the alleged gold standard of double-blind studies -- Roger Wyburn-Mason, M.D., Ph.D. deduces that the more than 100 forms of collagen tissue diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis are related and that such diseases are actually systemic in nature. With a world-renown amoebologist the two believe they've isolated out a single cause of these diseases. While this belief is probably inaccurate, Wyburn-Mason as far back as the 1950s began trying out a series of drugs that was able to halt the progress of rheumatoid diseases including rheumatoid arthritis. The one chapter in this book which is probably defective is their method of presumably isolating out this single cause. Otherwise, for any trained medical professional that follows Wyburn-Mason's reasoning they will find it superb. He finally settled on any one of the 5-nitroimidazoles, sometimes jointly with other easy to obtain drugs and sometimes by themselves. This treatment has since become one of the recommended treatments together with other treatments such as nutritional changes and so on that was adopted by The Arthritis Trust of America. Warning to health professionals: Several prestigious medical libraries received a free book initially costing $125 each and, after formulating a nice "thank-you" letter, the books were chucked in the wastebasket. "Everyone knows that arthritis and cancer are incurable, therefore" the book," they argued to themselves, "must be fraudulent." 20 paged, double columned summary of Professor Roger Wyburn-Mason's 516 page masterpiece of the same name. 33,740 Words Words
