Toyo Suyemoto is known informally by literary scholars and the media as "Japanese America's poet laureate." But Suyemoto has always described herself in much more humble terms. A first-generation Japanese American, she has identified herself as a storyteller, a teacher, a mother whose only child died from illness, and an internment camp survivor. Before Suyemoto passed away in 2003, she wrote a moving and illuminating memoir of her internment camp experiences with her family and infant son at Tanforan Race Track and, later, at the Topaz Relocation Center in Utah, from 1942 to 1945. A uniquely poetic contribution to the small body of internment memoirs, Suyemoto's account includes information about policies and wartime decisions that are not widely known, and recounts in detail the way in which internees adjusted their notions of selfhood and citizenship, lending insight to the complicated and controversial questions of citizenship, accountability, and resistance of first- and second-generation Japanese Americans. Suyemoto's poems, many written during internment, are interwoven throughout the text and serve as counterpoints to the contextualizing narrative. Suyemoto's poems, many written during internment, are interwoven throughout the text and serve as counterpoints to the contextualizing narrative. A small collection of poems written in the years following her incarceration further reveal the psychological effects of her experience.

Call to Remembrance is the first book to tell the story of Bahá u'lláh', the Prophet-Founder of the Bahá'í Faith, largely through His own words. Combining extracts from Bahá u'lláh's writing and supplementing, with additional background information, many major events in His life and ministry are presented. This unique compilation chronicles all periods of Bahá u'lláh's life, and is organized into five sections. Section One gives a glimpse of Bahá u'lláh's early years, marked by the advantage of high birth and riches, and characterized by His unfailing solicitude for the poor, sick, and downtrodden. Section Two covers His exemplary period of discipleship to His forerunner, the Báb. Section Three focuses on the birth of Bahá u'lláh's own revelation while He was imprisoned in Tehran's notorious "Black Pit" for defending and promoting the Báb's cause. Section Four surveys Bahá u'lláh's ministry, during which His afflictions intensified as the orb of His revelation began to rise to its zenith. The devious plots of jealous and corrupt officials, acts of cowardice and betrayal committed by Bahá u'lláh's own half-brother, and transgressions of earnest but misguided followers stand in vivid contrast to the courage, dignity, forbearance, and majesty Bahá u'lláh always exemplified. Section Five examines Bahá u'lláh's provisions for the extension of His authority over the affairs of His Faith through the appointment of His eldest son, 'Abdu'l-Bahá, as the Center of His Covenant. Finally, this section covers the events surrounding Bahá u'lláh's passing. Book jacket.

It is estimated that the First World War claimed the lives of 40,000 Welshmen, all of them heroes whose sacrifice is honoured by a grateful nation. 'Call them to remembrance', which includes 120 illustrations and maps, tells the stories of thirteen Welsh heroes who shared the common bond of having worn the famous red jersey of the Welsh international rugby team. Gwyn Prescott's sensitive and fascinating book, the product of over ten year's research and study, recovers the memory of these thirteen multi-talented and courageous Welshmen who gave their lives in the Great War of 1914-18, detailing their playing and military careers. Amongst their stories are the leading amateur golfer in Wales who represented Newport at five sports; the Cambridge choral scholar who gave up his job in India to volunteer for the Army; the flying Cardiff winger who impressed Lloyd George; and the "lion-hearted" hero of the famous Welsh victory over New Zealand in 1905.
