The Sunday Times Bestseller 'A beautiful book' Giovanna Fletcher 'Will stay with you long after you have put it down' Jools Oliver 'Bold, compelling... will blow you away' Marina Fogle 'Heartbreaking... such an important read' Sarah Turner (The Unmumsy Mum) *********************************************** What do you do when the unthinkable happens? Elle Wright had an admittedly easy pregnancy, and in May 2016 she and her husband welcomed their son, Teddy, into the world. Just a few hours later, they woke to find him cold and unresponsive, and the happiest day of Elle's life had turned into every parent's worst nightmare. Three days after delivering him into the world, she sat with Teddy as he took his last breaths, and tucked him in for the final time. Ask Me His Name is a moving account of Elle's pregnancy, Teddy's life, and what happens when a mother leaves hospital with empty arms. In the UK, 1 in 4 pregnancies end in loss, but conversations about the heartbreakingly frequent experience are few and far between. In this honest and hopeful exploration of mothering, Elle shows us how she navigated a parenthood no one had prepared her for. * A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to Tommy's charity. In his highly anticipated English translation of the ancient Irish text known as the Lebor Feasa Rnda (Book of Secret Knowledge), Celtic scholar and historian, Steven L. Akins, has at last made available to readers the wealth of pre-Christian teachings espoused by the Druids in this seminal work of pagan religious literature. Basing his translation on the only extant transcription of the now lost Black Book of Loughcrew, the actual doctrines of the Celtic priesthood are finally brought to light in this timeless rendering of these sacred scriptures. Of the 180 Druidic texts mentioned in the historic Yellow Book of Lecan as being destroyed by St. Patrick in his attempt to convert the pagan inhabitants of Ireland to Christianity, the Lebor Feasa Rnda alone survived as testimony to the spiritual beliefs and practices of the Celts in their original, uncompromised form. First transcribed by the Druid Mogh Ruith from a series of ogham staves long ago discovered in the tomb of Ollamh Fodhla, one of Irelands greatest early kings, the Lebor Feasa Runda records the dispensation of a vast store of esoteric knowledge received by Ollamh Fodhla from a messenger of the Celtic gods known as the Tuatha D Danann. Perhaps the most remarkable of all ancient Celtic texts, the Lebor Feasa Rnda contains not only an account of the earliest history of Ireland and the relationship of its inhabitants to the Celtic gods, but it also comprises a full discourse on the Druidic religion, providing a complete account of the sacred rites and ceremonies at the heart of this mysterious faith. Since it was first recorded in the Black Book of Loughcrew, the Lebor Feasa Rnda miraculously survived for centuries, traveling across Europe and passing through the hands of numerous individuals until it was ultimately acquired by the Ahnenerbe Forschungs-und Lehrgemeinschaf, who commissioned its translation into German in the days leading up to the Second World War. The original volume was found missing on May 10, 1941, the date Rudolf Hess, made his ill-fated flight to Great Britain, lending support to allegations that Hitlers deputy Fhrer had taken the ancient manuscript with the intention of presenting it as a gift to the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon, who Hess planned to meet for the purpose of secretly discussing peace negotiations between Germany and Britain. In the years since its disappearance, the only known transcription of the Lebor Feasa Rnda, the German translation prepared by Henry Thorenson for the Ahnenerbe, fell into obscurity until 2001 when it was discovered by Akins, who was granted access to Thorensons private records, enabling him to complete and publish the first English edition of this remarkable and historic work.

The Old Testament is more than a religious history of the nation of Israel. It is more than a portrait gallery of heroes of the faith. It is even more than a theological and prophetic backdrop to the New Testament. Beyond these, the Old Testament is inspired revelation of the very nature, character, and works of God. As renowned Old Testament scholar Bruce Waltke writes in the preface of this book, the Old Testament’s every sentence is “fraught with theology, worthy of reflection.” This book is the result of decades of reflection informed by an extensive knowledge of the Hebrew language, the best of critical scholarship, a deep understanding of both the content and spirit of the Old Testament, and a thoroughly evangelical conviction. Taking a narrative, chronological approach to the text, Waltke employs rhetorical criticism to illuminate the theologies of the biblical narrators. Through careful study, he shows that the unifying theme of the Old Testament is the “breaking in of the kingdom of God.” This theme helps the reader better understand not only the Old Testament, but also the New Testament, the continuity of the entire Bible, and ultimately, God himself.

Following his retirement after twenty-five years of medical practice, he proceeded to writing the Sunday bulletins of the cathedral and essays on a variety of topics of interest to his fellow Orthodox parishioners. He was urged by the protopresbyter Steven Zorzos, the current dean of the cathedral, to publish his writings as books. This is the first in which he provides examples of how he has experienced and interpreted his reading of the Holy Scriptures. He provides examples of what is available within them that are frequently overlooked by many readers. Furthermore, the English translations of the Bible are filled with many errors, which can only be clarified by finding the most appropriate English words, among the many available, for translating the true meaning of some Greeks words in the original New Testament and the Septuagint. Many examples of this phenomenon are provided in this volume.

JESUS THE MESSIAH IN THE HEBREW BIBLE deals with the messianic texts found in the Hebrew Bible. Shifting away from conventional paradigms, Eugen Pentiuc develops a new way of understanding the presence of Christ in the Old Testament. His approach is ontological, based on the view that Jesus the Messiah was pre-existent, and he appeared in manifold forms throughout the Hebrew Bible prior to his human incarnation in the New Testament. This book provides an accurate exegetical basis for reviewing the prophetic indicators--"as well as the literary explications--"of the relationship between the Old Testament prophecy and the New Testament fulfillment of Jesus the Messiah. Intended as primarily a pastoral work, based on theology and biblical exegesis, it contains' homelitic outlines and samples. Also included are the church Fathers' writings on the most important issues of hermeneutics. This book is a work of exegesis and biblical theology entwined with pastoral guidance. It will be a useful tool for both ministers and faithful in their quest of Christ in the Old Testament.

Understanding the Struggle Between God and Mankind in the Bible

“A work of stunning originality . . . Nothing quite like it has appeared in years.”—Jack Miles, author of God: A Biography In this groundbreaking book, Jerome Segal offers a fresh and vigorous reexamination of the oldest part of the Bible. What if we knew nothing about Judaism or Christianity and one day picked up the first six books of the Bible? How could we possibly understand them? Who is God? Who are the Israelites? What is the relationship between God and humanity? Segal maintains that to approach the Bible from this perspective—one framed by the story of the Israelites’ fidelity to Joseph—is to find something unexpected: an account of the human condition that reads like an existential novel about the struggle of mankind against the unpredictable and often unwarranted wrath of God. A radically new way of understanding the Bible and a brilliant exploration of it, Joseph’s Bones is a rarity in Biblical interpretation: brilliant, rigorously argued, and thoroughly original. “Joseph’s Bones makes [an] audacious argument. . . . Reading the Bible as a novel about the struggle between God and humankind, Segal produces a work of interpretation that is itself novelistic in its humanistic vision and emotional force.”—Naomi Seidman, author of Faithful Renderings “Perceptive and intelligent.”—Booklist “Arrestingly original.”—Tikkun “Compelling . . . transforming.”—Forward

Jehovah-tsidkenu, "the Lord our righeousness"; Jehovah-shalom, "the Lord our peace"; Jehovah-jireh, "the Lord will provide." This is a study of the twelve most common Hebrew names for God-and their significance and fulfillment in Christ. God's names reveal not only different dimensions of His character but also point to their fulfillment in the Person and work of Jesus Christ. This classic study examines the Old Testament names of God and the particular aspect of His character and dealings with man that each reveals. Names of God is a book that will help contemporary Christians better understand the glory, majesty, and power of God. (More than 115,000 in print)
