Create stunning 'embroidered' designs with yarns, threads/floss, fabric and more without needing to learn dozens of stitches! Punch needle embroidery is similar to rug hooking, whereby a strand of yarn or fabric is pushed through loose-weave fabric, making a 'loop'. Repeated several times, the loops squash together to create a stunning, dense, tactile piece of fabric. With needle punching, a special needle is used to make this process much easier and quicker, meaning you can create incredible textured designs with less know-how and in very little time at all. A traditional technique that came out of the US in the 19th century, it's now been revitalized and is appealing to many textile enthusiasts as it's not only simple to pick up but incredibly fun! With France's favourite crafter, Marie Suarez, learn and discover the delights of punch needle embroidery in this gorgeous practical book. Starting with the key materials and equipment you'll need, as well as the basic punch-needle stitches and techniques, go straight into making 20 creative and original projects - from simple cushions and pretty wall hangings to stylish bags and even a cleaning pad! All the projects are accompanied by beautiful photographs, diagrams to help you workout what to stitch first and handy tips and tricks for successful work.

Punchneedle embroidery is a creative needle art in which thread is literally punched through cloth with a special needle. The design is transferred onto the back of the fabric, which is stretched tightly in a hoop. Using a threaded punch needle, a small running stitched is work on the back of the fabric to outline or fill in the design. This stitch forms a loop on the front of the fabric. Different lengths of loops are created with different sizes of needles. The basic technique can be learned very quickly. The tools and techniques are similar to those used to make rugs with bulky wool yarn only they've been miniaturized. The craft has been described as "embroidery on steroids." Traditionally it is used to create folk art designs, but needle arts designers are starting to create more contemporary designs, and the crafters are jumping on board. This book is a fresh take on punchneedle embroidery, a very vast, very flexible technique to apply color and texture to cloth. Punchneedle designs can be turned into patches to embellish everything from jeans to bags. They can become cards, pins, or journal covers. They can be fused or sewn into all kinds of craft projects.

The craft of punch needle embroidery is incredibly fast and easy to learn! A hollow needle is embroidered with yarn or thread. The needle leaves a loop on the opposite side after punching it into a loosely woven fabric. A pattern is formed by repeating the loops and forming the pile of the textile. A continuous punching process, on the other hand, leaves stitches. Embroidered art can be formed with small, delicate needles or rugs or tapestries can be made with large needles and thicker yarn. Depending on the tone and look of your composition, both sides can be considered the proper side. Using punch needling, textile projects can range from rugs to wall hangings to pillows to pouches to coasters. You can apply this fibre art in an infinite number of ways and it's an excellent way to incorporate patterns and designs onto textiles. Ensure you get a copy of this book and follow through to get all the details.
