An hilarious tale about an epic event, written from a unique perspective. To be able to appreciate the story, the reader needs to be young at heart, have a vivid imagination and a love for adventure. If that sounds like you, join the writer on his journey, and experience his daily ups and downs with him.The Tour Aotearoa is a mountain bike 'brevet' (a timed, long-distance cycling event) covering the length of New Zealand. The Tour is held biennially and requires participants to follow a set route covering 3,000 km which consists of existing mountain bike trails scattered throughout the country and connected by back country roads. The Tour is unsupported, so participants carry their own gear. To be awarded the brevet, the riders need to cover the full distance within 30 days. The writer took part in the 2018 edition of the Tour. His experience was different from what he expected. He encountered all types of challenges, from getting lost to physical ailments, serious weather events and loneliness. In between he had plenty of time to contemplate and let his thoughts and imagination run free.

MEET SLIM. He bought his first motorcycle, a Bridgestone 175 cc, at age sixteen in 1968. Since then, he's been in and out of trouble (mainly in) and experienced the thrills and perils of riding on the highway. He's been a guest inside some of Australia's toughest jails where he learned a lifetime's worth of human behaviour and handy life skills, such as how not to do an armed hold-up. Never one to shy from a punch or retreat from a fight, Slim is as tough as they come. If something's worth doing, it's worth overdoing. He sees no point in fearing the unknown, whether it be cops, brothers or betrayers. Slim's first-hand account takes you into the world of bikers' clubs: built around motorcycles and the men who ride. And the moral of the story? Just a life lived on Slim's terms, through fists and boots, but always with an unswerving loyalty to the international brotherhood.

"First to Last" is the true story of a soldier's life through the motorcycles he has owned and the most prominent action events that have occurred on those bikes and during his lifetime. It is a factual, first-hand account of the tale of a biker, a warrior and an incurable romantic. The story has an international tone, is action oriented during peace and war, and spans the generations in its common appeal to motorcyclists, military enthusiasts, world travelers, hobbyists, adventurers and romanticists of all ages. The book includes maps and photographs with captions that follow portions of the storyline. Its theme combines historical nostalgia with adventure romance to yield an avant-garde, neo-classic novella of the two-wheeled conveyance - the motorcycle. The weave of motorcycle, man, places and events is nothing less than a lifelong search for the Holy Grail that culminates in answering the question of where one's treasure lies. About the Author Dennis W. Lid served in the U.S. Army Infantry, Airborne and Special Forces worldwide during peace and war for over 20 years. Major Lid retired from the army in 1980. He then worked abroad for the U.S. Department of Defense as a Department of the Army Civilian for 19 years. Freelance writing, reading and motorcycling have been the favorite passions of his life. Now retired, his interest in motorcycles continues unabated, although he no longer rides. Fond memories of past motorcycling days feed his trend of thought and keep his life as a biker alive and well. He bids Godspeed to all his fellow soldiers and motorcyclists.

A Dog s Tale as Told by Lakota

I have written this book from the viewpoint of one who has lived with and loved dogs since being a very young child. We had everything from springer spaniels to a big Newfoundlander. When I moved out on my own, I lived mainly in large cities, so I lived for many years not having a dog. When we bought our place in Hesperia with a large fenced-in yard, I knew it was time again to have a dog. I have been very spiritually oriented from early childhood and all through my adult life. As a young person, I had a very profound spiritual experience, and it changed my viewpoint on life very dramatically. In the book you will see how the spirit world seemed to intervene to bring about the relationship that has developed between my wife and me with our friend Lakota. Of all the dogs I have ever known, this one is the most unique and special. I started to write this book several years ago, and it just stalled. Recently I had another spiritual experience, and the doorway was opened again. The tale flowed freely from Lakota, and here we are with her story. It has been a joy to put it down in words in this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I had fun in writing it.

Childhood and adolescence: They were the best of times, they were the worst of times, and some of each are captured in these three intriguing novellas. In Delinquency Lessons, young Wiley Reed is trucked with his family from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky up to Bound Brook, New Jersey where he finds flying slugs and forest fires, trash picking and first kisses, spearing and spear-chucking, before nearly learning one last lesson. The eponymous tale casts a pair of cardboard boxes and a row of pear trees in a bittersweet tale of love and loss for Wiley and his sister Beulah during one memorable Indian summer. In Enzo Januzzi Scores a Double-Header, Wiley's heavyset friend goes to college in the American south and discovers a new world of sacrifice flies and stolen bases, eventually helping the spirited women of the Gibson-Henry softball team to overcome an abusive coach and a provincial campus.

In search of something to believe in once more, Signe Pike left behind a career in Manhattan to undertake a magical journey-literally. In a sweeping tour through Mexico, England, Ireland, Scotland, and beyond, she takes readers to dark glens and abandoned forests, ancient sacred sites, and local pubs, seeking people who might still believe in the elusive beings we call faeries. As Pike attempts to connect with the spirit world-and reconnect with her sense of wonder and purpose-she comes to view both herself and the world around her in a profoundly new light. Captivating, full of heart, and unabashedly whimsical, Faery Tale is more than a memoir-it's the story of rekindling that spark of belief that makes even the most skeptical among us feel like a child again.
