My storm chasing/interest in photography began back around the time my daughter was born (2008) and I started chasing storms about 7 years ago. It's hard to describe why I'm drawn to weather and storms, it's just what I've known my whole life. When I was little I would watch storms with my dad on the patio and grew up learning about them. It wasn't until later in life that I really got interested in storm photography and started learning more about it and things exploded from there. After my daughter was born I started my journey into portrait photography and eventually weddings, of which I shoot about 30 a year. But at the same time, I was getting into storm photography as well. We sold our entire DVD collection to help pay for a Canon Rebel, my first DSLR. From there things grew into chasing storms further and further from home, more and more miles, and even progressed into chasing tornadoes on the plains.

Few people seek out the tiny Caribbean island of Dampier Cay—visitors usually wash up there by accident. But this weekend, three people are flying to the island, not for a tan or fun in the sun, but because they have reason to believe that they might encounter something there that most people take great measures to avoid—a hurricane. A lottery windfall and a few hours of selfishness have robbed Caldwell of all that was precious to him, while Beverly, haunted by tragedy and screwed by fate since birth, has given up on life. Also on the flight is Jimmy Newton, a professional storm chaser and videographer who will do anything for the perfect shot. Waiting for them at Dampier is the manager of the Water's Edge Hotel, Maywell Hope, a descendant of the pirates who sailed the Caribbean hundreds of hears ago. As their stories unfold, the tragic underpinnings of Beverly and Caldwell's lives are revealed, a storyline that builds just as the hurricane looms ever-closer on the horizon. Cinematic and harrowing, Paul Quarrington's Storm Chasers is a tale of love and loss—and finding redemption in the eye of a hurricane.

Throughout their childhoods, they watched the skies in anticipation of dark clouds rolling in or listened for the distant rumble of thunder to announce the approach of a storm. Growing up in a small town in 'tornado alley, ' their diligent longing was frequently rewarded. They reveled in every flash of lightning and thundering boom that followed. It gave them goose bumps in a good way. In "Storm Chasers," C.M. Parker tells the story of how these two teens get the opportunity to chase storms with a team of pros during a summer study program. The only problem with being a Storm Chaser, though, is that sometimes the storm decides to chase you!
