“A compelling, blood-soaked portrait of a young Tutsi rebel who rose to become one of the leading generals in the Congolese Army” (Details). Lieve Joris has long been considered “one of the best journalists in the world” (Libération, France) and in The Rebels’ Hour she illuminates the dark heart of contemporary Congo through the prism of one lonely, complicated man—a rebel leader named Assani who becomes a high-ranking general in the Congolese army. As we navigate the chaos of his lawless country alongside him, the pathologically evasive Assani stands out in relief as a man who is both monstrous and sympathetic, perpetrator and victim. “Lieve Joris is of the caliber of Naipaul or Ryszard Kapuscinski, 50% traveler, 50% journalist, 100% writer.” —Elle (France)

Her existence turns to a series of ever-changing riddles, leading her down a grueling trail of dark secrets in the hope of tracing their elusive source, and earning her the ire of this aloof man. Submerging her deeper into the menacing puzzle of the current Lord Noble's animosity. “As usual, Laurenston’s story is outrageously bawdy, her characters are unabashedly foul-mouthed and unrestrained, and her comedic timing is on point. The blend of screwball romance, mythological mayhem, and all-out action is as enjoyable as ever.” —Publishers Weekly Stieg Engstrom, Angriest Viking Ever, has got big problems. The human Viking Clans of earth are in danger of being obliterated—along with the rest of the world—and the only one who may be able to save them is a super pain-in-the-ass Crow. Most people annoy Stieg, but this is the one woman he really can’t stand . . . Erin Amsel loves being a Crow! Why wouldn’t she when the other Viking Clans are so hilariously arrogant and humorless? She’s not about to let all that come to an end! She just didn’t expect to be shoulder to shoulder in battle with Stieg. Then again, he’s so easy to torment—and also kind of cute. With the future of the world riding on them, Stieg knows he’ll have to put aside his desperate need to kiss the smirk right off Erin’s face. Wait. What? He didn’t mean that—did he? No! They have one goal: To conquer the idiots. Because nothing bugs Stieg more than when idiots win. If only he can keep himself from suddenly acting like one . . . “No one does the weird and wacky better than Laurenston!” —RT Book Reviews, 4.5 Stars Top Pick “If you enjoy outrageous scenarios, witty banter, and hilariously over-the-top characters, look no further than Shelly Laurenston’s Call of Crows series.” —SmexyBooks, Best Books of the Year

Tom Sawyers Abenteuer Und Streiche

Mark Twain (real name Samuel Langhorne Clemens) (1835-1910) is probably one of the most known American writers. He was immensely popular in his time, especially noted for his wit and humour, and he is still widely quoted nowadays. Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn are probably the best known characters of Mark Twain, and "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" (1876) is the first book where they appear. Here we read about the games Tom plays with his friends and schoolmates, as pirates, Robin Hood, etc., his flirtations with Becky Thatcher, his search for a hidden treasure, his troubles with "Injun Joe..". This version includes the illustrations of the first edition, by True Williams (I wish I could have used Norman Rockwell's, maybe in 2029), and is proofread (or "smoothread"), which was not easy, because the txt and html versions in PG have different text, and both are different from the 1st edition scans, which is itself inconsistent... Oh, and it is the uncensored text, so don't complain if you find some n-words.
